what about NP, SP, TP and RP, NUS, SMU for tertiary category. Last yr at regatta, it was even off. not any polys did particularly well, so we shouldn't write off them. I believe everyone should have expectations for SP as the current batch is strong led by the n team coach, poh soon. TP is nowhere to be seen but will they change their fate this season? we will find out. RP, are they gonna make a comeback after having a "down" period at regatta, showing signs of vulnerability? NP, look strong in regatta however, are they able to be one step ahead and compete with NYP? NUS, seems pretty down ever since 2007. maybe this current batch has some potential and to stop NTU's rampage. SMU, needless to say, e only team closest to NTU based on last year results, has e highest expectations among us to take over the throne. but the biggest question is, is NTU still going strong? are they still an edge over the rest of the tertiary teams? are they the ones still closest to the n team standard? This MR500 is the best guage and the best race to guage this season's powerhouse.

Cheers

I am sure NUS is training very hard to prepare for a good fight with NTU this time. We'll see.

IMHO, Nasiman is over rated. NJC is really good, world class. But I strongly believe most the credit should goes to the unsung hero, Mr Yong.  Now that Yong had moved over to HCI, lets see after next year how NJC is.

NUS training very hard, so are the rest.  ;D

I am really forward to this year PM cup. my $$ is still on NTU, at least 3 seat.

yups NUS is on fire every weekend at kallang.

hmmm i think its a bit early to speak for PM Cup but MR is going to be a good prelude to see how teams stand after the long break after SRR. Any idea if SMU is participating cos if i'm not wrong they haven't been participating cos they organise it with SAVA every year? any confirmation on this year?

Is SIM taking part this time?

Well MR sure is going to be a show of prowess for the uni teams esp before PM Cup. SIM looks real strong too.

firstly, SP has always been led by Poh Soon, so expectations for them are always the same. just that they didnt manage any silverware for the whole of 2009.
secondly, NP didnt look strong in regatta. the only poly that looked to be able to compete with SIM was NYP.
thirdly, SMU wont be participating in MR500 as they are co-organisers with SAVA.
last but not least, MR500 is the START of the new season after the last season ended with Regatta. So, it is not the best race and gauge for this season's powerhouses.

that depends on how you determine a season, ie. starting from which month and ending on which month.  Some might use a calender year to determine but others perfer to use a july - june as an entire year.  the latter will allow the race to be progressive (200 , 300, 500, 800/1000) although it might be contradictory to progressive training methodologies that builds aerobic fitness earlier and anaerobic at a later stage.  nontheless, mr500 shld be a good gauge for SDBF i think.
