Doha Asian Cup Qualifiers 2011

November 14, Singapore vs Thailand

After a humiliating 6-0 defeat at Azadi Stadium, Iran, Singapore came back with more determination to win Jordan 2-1 at Kallang Stadium. This victory puts them 2nd in the table ahead of 3 points ahead of fierce rivals Thailand.

Why i'm making this note is because i want my fellow countrymen who are hooked up with EPL, to come down to Kallang Stadium and watch this crucial match. I cant rely on mediacorp or local media to advertise this cause they are mediacock. Singapore last lost to Thailand at home was 1996 and 1983. The difference is 13 years stronghold at home. Could this record be broken in another 13 years jinx at 2009? No, i dont want that to happen, so im calling out to my friends who love football to come down and support your very own nation. It's not really hard to take a bus or mrt to kallang station and walk.

Singapore have undergo a makeshift in tactical issues that has been causing them troubles the past few games. Singapore has now played a mixed ball-playing possession that is designed to impressed us as evident in the recent friendly Singapore vs Indonesia. Singapore has been high ever since by getting the revenge they deserved by winning the Vietnam newspaper cup. This recent number of convincing victories and individual brilliance by our players would be crucial if they can maintain and put a strong front against Thailand.

I made an effort to appreciate local football, so could you. Stop being glory hunters by supporting clubs from foreign lands. Singaporeans support them not just cause of quality but by knowing they produce results and in turn boast to friends or whoever that "oh, the team i support win this, win that". Don't blame foreign imports for being in the national team because to be honest, this foreigners play with more heart and determination than locals. Don't blame our country we lose a match, but you guys don't blame your EPL clubs when they lose. Stop making the impression that Singapore is a Semi-final, final country, yes the whole world knows that. Stop all your criticism and try to make an effort to watch and support your own countrymen play. This match is crucial as it will be our first time competing in Asian Cup. It's really not that hard you know. Singapore is not England, America where you need to take flights to travel over 500 miles to the national stadium. You have mrt and buses that may take less than hour to reach.

Get your ass moving and come and watch football.
Bring back the kallang wave. Or should i say Singapore wave.
