Singapore River Regatta 2009
« on: October 14, 2009, 10:34 »
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! The Singapore River Regatta is just a month and a week away. Who will emerge victorious? Are the universities taking part in this competition? Is RP going all out to keep their titles and reign victoriously at the end of the Singapore dragonboat season? Will Mountbatten able to end their drought? We shall find out.

Feel free to discuss about it right now!

we'll never know, PMC may just be back to grab the medals away from the Open category.

as for whether or not RP will be able to maintain their glorious titles from last SRR, it's really hard to tell. for all you know, it may be SP's turn this season, judging on their performance from SAVA. but then again, it's anyone's race.

can't wait for the last race of the season.

yups... Regatta has since been the poly's show given that its right after their holidays which would mean ample trng for them. My take would be on SP as well with NYP coming up strong.

Anyway, any news on NTU if they are participating? Or would it be like last year where there wasn't NTU. How about the other unis, since its the exam period for the unis. NUS? SMU?

PMC is actually national men's team. It is just that they are using another name. That's all.

Any team willing to take on the likes of Camsur and PacWest are worthy of mention. They're not the best the land but you saw them race like it was their's to take. They're not the National Team but men who came together who took on a challenge of being the best in the Nations Cup. We dun need to ask who are the people from PMC. All I can say is that during the SAVA sprints, the Singapore flag waved high in the air..

Anyway I think that'll be the last of Team PMC for the rest of the season due to forseen commitments in their respective teams. Well, let's just look forward to the next SRR without them.. Cheers!!

well, u are right Paddleshop. They did Singapore proud. I would say that if PMC isnt around, the Men's Open will be more of an open competition which means to say that there will be a more equal competition among the teams. more competitive = more interesting.

I would say that another interesting fact of this competition would be that black horses always tend to appear in SRR. We have been talking all about SP, NTU the usual powerhouses nowadays. But what about blackhorses like maybe the seemingly quiet TP, the ITE teams who have put up a good performance in last yr regatta and SIM as well? Are they gonna surprise us?
