Singapore Paddle Club Recruiting for 2009
« on: January 02, 2009, 12:54 »
Dear All,

SPC is ramping up it’s recruitment for the beginning of the year to build on the success of 2008 – 12th in the Dragon Run (Hong Kong – Surfski), top 20 finish in Hamilton Island PowerAde Cup (Australia – Outrigger)

SPC is unique in the fact that is the only team in Singapore to own Outrigger Canoes (OC6, OC2 and OC1), surf skis and paddle boards (current world number 2 paddle boarder hails from SPC).

2009 is our growth and development year and we are looking to recruit more experienced and novices alike to build the squad.

OC and surfski are both excellent cross-trainers for all paddle sports as it encompasses the same muscle groups, legs, core, back and shoulders.

2009 will see many overseas races for both OC and dragon boat and SPC hopes to fly the flag in Boracay (DB), Hamilton Island (OC), Guam (OC) and Hong Kong (OC and Surfski)

The coaching team is headed up by Nick Yap (former Singapore N-Team paddler) and Martha Levin (former Hong Kong national paddler) who will help you improve, motivate and ultimately drive you to success. With two current N-Team paddlers hailing from SPC, we can provide the level of competition from complete novice to N-Team hopeful.

It’s not all about the paddling, we have an exciting bar and restaurant sponsor – Kazbar who will make sure you stay calorie neutral ;-) as well as many social events throughout the year including dive trips, paintballing and many more.

Membership fees start from just $50 a quarter and include up to 8 fully coached sessions a week. However, for those who want to try it out, we offer 4 rookie courses in the OC and DB completely FREE. We can also accommodate canoes in the boat racks on Sentosa.

If you would like to find out more about the DB or OC courses, please drop me an email.

None what so ever!

We have 3 elements in SPC. Those who paddle the OC, those who paddle in the DB and those hard-core few who do both! OC and DB perfectly compliment each other as the strokes are the same. OC will build your endurance and stamina, whilst DB helps OC by improving stroke rate and efficiency.

I'll be heading an OC rookie course at 11am on Sentosoa, there will also be DB at 4pm in the afternoon at Kallang.

Pick one and give me a shout!

Thanks to all those who turned up for the rookie course last Saturday on Sentosa, was great to have two full boats out.

This week the session will be in the DB, to be held at 4pm at Kallang. Outriggers as well as dragon boaters are encouraged to attend, as it is impossible to teach technique in the OC.

Any questions, drop me a PM.
