hi all

i just got my 1 star recently (no more bath tubs for me!).

i was wondering, of all the 7 water venture outlets & the macRitchie reservoir outlet, which one has the biggest demarcated area of water and longest perimeter distance for 1 star kayaking?  Or there might be others i missed?

i'm just looking to paddle for a really long time continuously so looking to see which outlet has the longest perimeter distance, and thought someone in this forum might know, rather than me trying to visit all the outlets just to see their demarcated maps. Any suggestions on where i can go for solo long distance endurance paddling in Singapore are appreciated too.

Thanks.

Welcome to the club! Wow this is one biggy question. I think you can try the coastal waters like East Coast, Changi or Pasir Ris. They should have a bigger leeway than say the reservoirs which are enclosed and have area closed from public access. For example, Lower Seletar and MacRitchie have designated areas for competitive kayaking. The smallest place should be the Jurong Lake, alot of area cannot go due to mud flats.

There used to be rumours about Pandan Reservoir and Pandan River opening up but till now no news. The Pandan River would have been the longest 2km water stretch but no news about opening it to public. Perhaps you can try to go to the Ayer Rajah - Jas Sports Centre to see if the rental service run by Paddle Lodge is still operating.
Good luck!

for flat water kayaking: start at Stadium Road, near Singapore Dragon Boat Association (behind Mardeka Bridge, follow to Kallang Reservoir, follow to the mouth of the River(s), to Marina Bay (as far as not chased by PUB people), back  along the shores to the mouth of the River(s) - to the Sea almost, back to Kallang Basin - this one lap is more than 10km, do several and you are done.

That's the longest, for sure, except open Sea waters.

See you there!
