Rowing in Singapore
« on: December 13, 2007, 18:18 »
I think this may probably be the wrong forum to ask but how does a person who wants to learn rowing start? Anyone got any clues, because I saw pictures in magazine about rowing in Singapore before. As in those kind of 2 big oars and sit facing the back. Any info? Thanks.

ya i believe you are both referring the same sports. Rowing typically refer to 2 hands on a single sweep oar that is places on alternate side of the boat or commonly known as shells, whereas sculling refers to 2 oars.

There is in fact a National Sports Association regulating the sports of rowing/sculling, normally called rowing as a generic name. The Singapore Amateur Rowing Association is situated at Pandan Reservoir. They are generally little know due to the size of the sports community and the fact that they are located by themselves at Pandan Reservoir. But they are in fact promoting the sports and conducting courses even for recreational rowing. Visit the website to find out more.
It is all just in the mind.
