i cant imagine what will happen when a fish bites the bait. i think my kayak will overturn and i can start to be forcibly towed away.

wun the kayak sink? lol. and if it doesn't, that's going to be quite an extra weight to be added onto the kayak dun you think. and kayak is such a light boat i doubt an anchor will help.

Therein lies the crux of understanding the purpose of the anchor. The anchor is not so much to 'weigh' the boat down (as common misconception has it), as to be able to be long enough to drag the bed (preferably muddy) of the waterbody and thus causing friction to hold the boat in place. If a kayak can take the weight of a human being of say about 80kg, a small 2kg device with sufficient rope length will be more than sufficient anchor. Imagine the ships with the anchor less than 1% of its weight. A kayak of the fishing type i think typically weigh about 20kg.
It is all just in the mind.

i went bintan and rented a 2 seater sit on top kayak from the beach. another pair of my friends took another 2 seater and went out with the fishing rod. Then after awhile, i see my friends' boat drift by mine, and i can see that a fish had bitten and towing the boat along.... it was funny!

but does anyone do that in Singapore? sounds like a fun sports. oh and pcgwee, those a nice looking boats! how much do they cost?
Paddlesup!

According to this
http://kayakfishingstuff.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=Redfish14&Category_Code=Heritage-Kayaks,
a Heritage Redfish 14" costs US$578 Not sure about the shipping charges - won't expect it to be cheap.

There are usually accessories that you can buy so that you can secure the paddle. remove the fishing rod from the rod holders and start fishing.
